ITTF North America Agrees To Explore Ambitious Plans

Westchester, NY – ITTF North America held a planning meeting the weekend of January 17 and 18, 2015 aimed implementing the ITTF Continental Development projects for 2015. The meeting also dealt with event planning for 2015, 2016 and 2017.

While some of the time was spent on discussing and mapping out projects such as the World Cadet Challenge team selection and preparation, PARA, Junior and Development projects, new projects took center stage in the discussions: ITTF North America and the Latin American Table Tennis Union will explore a quadrennial PANAMERICAN Championships wedged in the middle of the PANAM GAMES cycle; this would translate into a bi-annual PANAM Competition of the highest order.

An Elite Circuit based on the current North American tournament series – the JOOLA North American Tour, the Butterfly North American Table Tennis Tour and the JOOLA Canada series – was another project that could prove vital for North American player development and an opportunity for a professional career for North American players here in North America.

The third exciting new project discussed was the formation of Major League Table Tennis in North America. Gordon Kaye, USATT’s new CEO, brings a wealth of experience on the business aspect to such a project.

Ambitious plans indeed!
